Evil Wig is the fifty-first episode of Dude, That's My Ghost! It aired for the first time on December 14, 2013.
Synopsis[]
When Spencer, on a dare from Billy, swipes Principal Ponzi’s toupee, he thinks it’s just an innocent prank. But as the duo messes around with the hideous hairpiece, Billy makes the mistake of using his ghostly ectoplasm as styling gel, and the wig comes to life. It sets out on a spree of malicious mischief, and ultimately has its sights set on revenge against Ponzi.
Plot[]
Spencer and Billy are playing truth or dare in the hallway at Beverly Beverly High. Spencer dares Billy to sit inside a locker for ten seconds. Billy goes inside with a teddy bear and a hat with a light on it, but Spencer informs him that he must do it with the locker door closed and the light off, which Billy is unable to do without getting scared and leaving to hug Spencer in fear. Billy then dares Spencer to steal Principal Ponzi’s wig. As Ponzi naps in his office, Billy lowers Spencer from the ceiling to steal the wig, which Spencer pulls off.
In Spencer’s room, he brags about having stolen the wig, annoying Billy. Spencer accidentally throws the wig across the room as Jane exits the elevator and it hits her in the face before falling to the floor. Jane believes that the wig is a bat before Spencer explains that it’s a wig that he got for a film he’s making. Jane says that the wig is disgusting and throws it to the side before asking Spencer to pass out some of her shampoo samples at school the next day, which Spencer does not want to do. Jane also takes his camera and says she won’t give it back until Spencer has done what she asked and leaves the room.
As Spencer is walking into school the next day, he and Billy play with the wig, styling it into different hairdos. When Spencer is out of earshot, Billy asks if he’s got any styling gel before getting the idea to use his own ectoplasm. An eerie aura goes over the wig, but Billy shrugs it off and follows Spencer into the school. Suddenly, the wig starts moving on its own. Billy says that it must have been the ectoplasm and Spencer gets angry that Billy didn’t think about the consequences of his action. Spencer attempts to catch the wig, but it evades him and runs off, prompting him and Billy to chase it. Meanwhile, Ponzi has temporarily covered his head in a knit cap and has rented “Geronimo the wig-sniffing horse” to help him find his missing hairpiece. Geronimo sniffs Ponzi’s head and wildly gallops through the hallway before stopping upon a dirty mop, the same thing that Jane said the wig smelled like.
In the school parking lot, Buddy is about to attempt to jump over 11 cars in a row on a riding mower in front of an excited crowd. The wig sneaks into Buddy’s helmet before he puts it on and is enveloped by its supernatural effects. Instead of doing the jump, he runs the mower into a signpost and the wig leaves his head before slipping away again. Geronimo leads Ponzi to the source of a scent which turns out to be cheese in a student’s locker. Spencer and Billy chase the wig onto the sports field, where it gets into Kleet’s football helmet. They try to warn him not to put on the helmet, but he ignores them and does so anyway, causing his body to become mutated. As Spencer and Billy chase him, Jane calls Spencer to make sure that he is handing out the shampoo samples as she asked, and Spencer tells her it’s not a good time before hanging up. In attempt to wrangle Kleet, Billy makes him punch himself in the face, knocking him out. The wig then goes into the school building and Spencer and Billy follow it.
Geronimo leads Ponzi to a sausage from Lolo’s packed lunch and Spencer and Billy chase the wig through the hall. It eventually lands right in Geronimo’s mouth, causing Ponzi to celebrate, but it then escapes and runs off on its own, cowering when Ponzi approaches it. The wig then beats Ponzi up as Spencer and Billy look on. They question if they should help him before instead watching as Billy uses laser-vision to turn corn into popcorn for them to eat while doing so. The wig then chases Ponzi out of the building and into his car, where he hides from it as it attempts to break in. Spencer and Billy continue to observe until they run out of popcorn and agree that they should help. Spencer figures that they just have to get the ecto out of the wig and then remembers that he has his mom’s shampoo samples in his backpack. The two throw shampoo onto the wig and hose it down, washing out the ectoplasm. Ponzi then recollects his wig and notices Spencer, saying that he suspected Spencer might have had something to do with what happened. Jane then pulls up in her salon van and notices the empty shampoo bottles on the ground, figuring that Spencer must have given out the samples. She then gives him a new wig to use for his movie, noting that it was better than the “disgusting old thing” he’d had before. Spencer attempts to offer the new wig to Ponzi, who instead opts to keep his old one.
Trivia[]
Spencer might have referenced the song “All Star” by Smashmouth, wearing Ponzi’s wig, singing “Go Spencer, you’re a rockstar, get your game on!” somewhere at two minutes into the episode, refrencing “Hey now, you’re an all star, get your game on, go play!”
