Episode Overview[]

When Spencer sees how much attention star athletes like Kleet get, he decides to become one himself – with an assist from Billy – in order to get more attention for his movies. Thanks to Billy’s ectoplasm, Spencer succeeds so wildly that Ponzi appoints himself Spencer’s manager and sets up a big exhibition, dreaming of endorsement riches. But when Billy’s ectoplasm goes haywire, Spencer finds himself in big trouble with his principal.

Plot[]

At the WiFri, Spencer is preparing for a screening of one of his movies as Billy asks if he seems especially see-through. Spencer asks Billy to hand out souvenirs from his movie, which turn out to be severed fingers that scare Billy, and he remarks that even those fingers look healthier than he does. Rajeev and Shanilla arrive and the four wait around, but no one shows up to Spencer’s screening. Shanilla ponders if everyone had something better to do, but realizes it didn’t come out right.

The next day at Beverly Beverly High, Spencer is walking along sadly and Billy tries to cheer him up by saying that people will come to his screenings if he has less of a low profile. Meanwhile, Kleet impresses a group of girls by launching a rock across the sports field. Principal Ponzi is on the phone talking positively about Kleet, asking for an endorsement deal and mentioning a showcase the next day. He then remarks to himself that he’ll become rich and leave Beverly Beverly High, laughing maniacally. Spencer wonders aloud why people pay so much attention to Kleet and Billy mentions hero worship of athletes. Spencer gets an idea for Billy to help him become a star athlete so that people will want to see his movies.

When Spencer is struggling to lift a rock off the ground on the field, Ponzi insults him and asks him to leave so as not to disrupt Kleet’s performance. When Spencer is finally able to get the rock off the ground, Billy flies with it all the way across the field, leaving Kleet and Ponzi dumbfounded. When Spencer and Kleet are about to race on the track, Billy puts some ectoplasm on Spencer’s shoes, causing Spencer to move extremely fast. Several girls cheer for Spencer and Ponzi offers him an endorsement deal with a sportswear company by coming to the exhibition tomorrow. Spencer agrees only if Ponzi allows him to screen his movie there, which Ponzi happily agrees to.

In the school cafeteria, Billy remarks once again about his transparency. Some girls call Spencer over to sit with them, but Ponzi insists that he eat on his own, taking him to a private room with a fine dining setting and pampering him. Kleet tries to enter the room, but Ponzi shuts him out. Billy insists that Spencer order tapioca pudding in a bathtub, which Billy proceeds to cover himself in, calling it “nature’s thickener.”

Spencer goes to class but finds an old man dressed as him in his seat. Spencer dismisses him and Ponzi appears and insists that as a star athlete, Spencer doesn’t have to go to class and that he found a replacement. Ponzi continues offering to pamper Spencer, which he declines. During class, Billy gets excited when the science teacher talks about the ability of microwaves to alter molecular structure and leaves excitedly, bewildering Spencer.

Spencer arrives home and opens the garage to find several open microwaves with Billy exposing himself to their radiation. This turns out to have left Billy feeling unwell and getting his ghostly form out of order, which Spencer is worried will affect his performance at Ponzi’s exhibition, particularly when Billy collapses on the ground.

On the field, Spencer waves to the crowd, but still seems worried about Billy’s condition. Billy attempts to help him with the shot put, but fails to carry the rock and causes it to fall on Ponzi’s foot, which he tries to act nonchalantly about in front of the company representative. When Spencer goes to run, he asks Billy for more ectoplasm. When Billy notices that it doesn’t look right, Spencer insists he do it anyway, and Billy does so. Instead of running fast, Spencer loses control of his shoes and spins around wildly all around the field. Spencer ends up on the table that the representative is sitting at and Ponzi tells him to get down. Spencer takes his shoes off, which then run away from him on their own. Ponzi yells at Spencer that he’s fired and replaces him with Kleet. When Kleet is turned around, Billy empties his stomach into Kleet’s shorts, which causes Kleet to be dragged about uncontrollably. Ponzi once again tries to insist to the representative that nothing is wrong, but Kleet crashes into them, causing the representative to walk out as Ponzi attempts to call after him.

When Spencer asks Ponzi about his movie screening, Ponzi tells him and Kleet that they’re both in big trouble. Kleet follows after Ponzi begging to him, making the girls in the crowd laugh. Spencer goes up to Billy and asks if he’s okay. Billy said he just needed to purge, then remarks that things didn’t go so well for Spencer. Spencer doesn’t seem too bothered and says he’s back to being a nobody, but then the impressed crowd surrounds him. He tells them that his performance was special effects, just like those they could see in his movie and tells them about its next screening at the WiFri.

At the screening, Spencer smiles at the large crowd having turned up. Billy congratulates him and Spencer says he’s sorry that Billy couldn’t find a way to appear less see-through. Billy says it doesn’t matter as much as being buff. He lifts a large wait but drops it on the projector, causing the movie to shut off and the displeased crowd to yell and boo and Spencer, throwing things at him. When Billy sees this, he says once again that being transparent isn’t always so bad as Spencer looks annoyed.
